I ordered this stamp set for my 3 year old. I was concerned when I was ordering it that it might not be up to the job of withstanding a 3 year old, due to the low price. When we recieved it, we tore it open to find the box was made of sturdy wood, as well as all the stamps. And yes, the ink really is washable! You just put the stamp under warm water and the ink just rinses away. It comes out of clothing, walls and just about anywhere else toddlers may think to put it. And the rubber stampers that are attached to the wooden blocks are very clear when stamped. There are no broken lines or unwanted blotches. I recently went to a local craft store looking for more stamps and found the prices to be overly rediculous. This kit is definately worth more than I paid. My son asks to play “dino stamps” all the time, and I don’t mind pulling it out for him, because it really is washable. The colored pencils are wonderful, as the ink dries fairly quickly, so you can use them to color in the stamped outline. I most definately recommend this to anyone!

My son has had the Dinosaur Stamp Set for a little over 2-years now, and it’s been well used. The box has a label on the outside, which indicates each dinosaur, and has really come in handy for me, as I know very little about the Mesozoic Era. The only shortcoming I’ve experienced with the Dinosaur Stamp Set is the worthless pencils. The pigment is so hard it doesn’t work. I tossed them in the trash after our first play session, and replaced them with our Crayola pencils.

The stamps are nice and chunky for little hands. My son is delayed in fine motor skills, but has no trouble picking these up, and using them. He creates a landscape of plants, mountains, and rocks with markers, and then stamps, stamps, stamps. He actually prefers to color the stamps in with markers, but every now and then I notice he uses the pencils. The Dinosaur Stamp Set makes for a fun, creative time. This can be a messy activity though, so if you’re not into using Spray `n Wash on your kids clothes, or spraying 409 on the table after play, you may want to avoid this toy.

I got this for my 11 year old daughter and she really likes it a lot. The dressmaker’s form is sooo cute! It also comes with lots of other goodies. She has played with it for two solid days now and more important, is really interested in learning how to sew. I am not suprised that a nine year old struggled with it…however it is marked “10 and up.” It is really not so much a toy as a mini design studio. I think the best thing is that the dress form can be used for draping fabrics which is an essential skill for young designers! My daugher has pinned two dresses together and they looked amazing. I bought this thinking it would be a fun and non threatening way to learn sewing, which I never really learned and always regretted. Plus it’s just like Project Runway! I also recommend a few accessories which are available at Hearthsong, like a teeny sewing machine and a sewing kit. Overall, this is one of the nicest craft kits I’ve seen.

I was so pleased with this product! It’s very hard to find quality educational and creative toys for children that aren’t over priced – where you get a little quality for a lot of money. This kit is worth every penny. I shopped around and found the best price on Amazon. Got it for my 8 year old’s birthday (just turned and she loved it. This is perfect for any girl that is interested in learning fashion design or sewing or has an interest in making their own barbie clothes – or just likes to be creative and artsy. As an added plus I found it useful for homeschooling. (Measuring, art, careers, textures, etc.) The kit included fun fabrics for the kids to play with, a mannequin, a book to draw their designs in and very nice instructions I was pleased with. Needles, swatches, thread, swatches, fabric glue and pencil, and a very pretty pre-made dress that the little ones can just add fancy stuff too if they want (I think it ran big though). There was more but I bought it a while ago so I can’t remember everything. Little hangers for clothes. (Having a case to keep everything in would have been nice – but probably would have made the product more expensive.) There was a lot to “explore” with the kit so it wasn’t just ripping it open and throwing it aside. It’s definitely something to sit down with. I also felt it was new and different than a lot of stuff out there. (She’s my youngest of six..so I’ve got a grasp on what’s out there…) The idea of saving money by making barbie clothes is a good idea too. I am so happy I found this and I highly recommend it. If I’m ever stuck to get another girl a birthday present and they like Barbies I’d definitely consider getting this for a gift. Highly recommended.

Fashion Design Studio My 10 year old granddaughter loves this toy. She plays with it for long periods of time. She’s not an experienced sewer, but doesn’t find it difficult to work with. I would recommend it as a gift for a child 10-13.

My daughter asked for this for her 6th birthday. It was a little too advanced for her to operate. She was able to create the flat designs with help but the 3-D designs were a bit too advanced. My 9 year old tried it out and he was able to handle the flat designs ok, but didn’t have the patience for the 3-D. I think the design station is a neat contraption to use for this activity. We haven’t tried any Pixos without the design station. I can imagine it would be hard to do without it. One thing the kids did not like was the drying time. It took at least 24 hours to dry, even with the battery-operated dryer on the design station. Overall, I think the Pixos are just ok. My kids prefer activities that provide instant results better. We will stick with Legos and Puzzibits!

I bought this stamp pad for my 3-year-old to go along with a “Melissa & Doug” stamp set. This stamp pad is really nice. It’s very big (bigger than I expected) and the colors are really bright. It’s easy for little hands to use because of it’s size and the ink is washable, so it’s easy to wash off hands and wash off of counters/clothing.

We’ve spent a fortune on stamp pads of individual colors, and this one is the best. It’s fun for stamping and fingerprinting (like any of the Ed Emberley finger/thumb/funprint books). We love Ed Emberley around here, and his books are all multicolored, so you have a choice, either lose some of the magic with monochromatic fingerprinting, spend $30 on individual stamp pads – if you can find them, or BUY THIS!

I’ve gotten the same enthusiasm for this stamp pad from my 4-yr-old daughter and 8-yr-old nephew. My nephew enjoyed my daughter’s horse stamp set, so I bought him the dinosaur set recently. There is something extra special for the kids in getting that BIG, bright, extra stamp pad with the stamp pad in the stamp set! We have several boxes of these Melissa And Doug bead sets b/c we just can’t get enough of them! My three children (twin boys – one girl) love to sit and make necklaces over and over again! YES! My boys love this too!!! It’s a great exercise for their fine motor skills! The patience they have all developed to sit and string these small beads together is wonderful! It’s great practice for them as they create different patterns with each new necklace. I suggest getting a few boxes – especially if you have more than one child playing with them at the same time. Our favorite set includes letters so they can each spell out their own name or other words.

**Not suggested for small children who will mistake them for pieces of candy.

My 5 year old daughter has strung many a cheap plastic bead in her day but these cheerfully painted wood beads are much prettier and sophisticated than the usual tacky plastic ones. With this kit she made 3 long necklaces for herself with some of the product left over.

For young children this is a great craft to build fine motor skills. This also became an educational opportunity when I started teaching her the words “pattern,” “symmetry” and “asymmetry.”

One evening when helping my daughter choose which bead to use next we compared sides and made a symmetrical patterned necklace. Then on her own she said she was going to make an asymmetrical pattern. All the necklaces turned out beautifully.

The packaging of this bead set is very attractive and would make a great birthday or Christmas gift especially for a girl. The price nice too.

I gifted this set to my niece and she was overjoyed.
Not to mention she used her creativity to put together beautiful necklaces, although the first one she made, she gifted to her dad.
However I do caution that this set is not for children below 3 yrs, since there is a risk that they might pop the beads in their mouths.
I would recommend adult supervision.

I ordered this for my 6-year old daughter, who loves arts & crafts projects. It was perfect for her! She spent hours working on it, with hardly any assistance from me. The instructions were easy for her to follow and the stick-on “jewels” were easy for her to remove from the perforated sheets and apply to the jewelry box by herself. I would highly recommend this product and plan to purchase similar kits for my daughter.
